A Typewriter's Advice

Oh my, it's been a while, hasn't it? I absolutely detest not actively posting and commenting, but school hoards every moment of mine. As soon as I get home I am obligated to hunker down with homework. I hardly ever have a free moment in which I can actually do things on the laptop that don't involve chemistry or civil wars.

The fact that this is only my second post in the whole of November makes me feel terribly unsuccessful and not proud in the slightest. Not interacting with my internet friends makes me feel internet lonely... is that a thing?

I wrote this piece regarding loneliness for a school assignment where we had to review a dictionary definition, but I feel like it fits perfectly with my blogging predicament. I feel so empty when I come onto my blog and look at how inactive I've been, which is odd because I am not lonely in real life. It only shows it's face when I come online.

I tried to encourage myself in this piece, and even though I still am not 100% happy with my blog at the moment, I at least have some motivation to change it. Here's hoping I'll post more soon x

On a side note I did type this on my typewriter- that's why there are mistakes I crossed out! Typewriters are wondrous tools, but they are not the best for people who rely so heavily on spell-check!  :)

  2. Sometimes life outside the computer calls, and even though I love my internet friends and all the beautiful connections I've made with folks around the globe, I am still glad to have so many present, here-and-now experiences with my friends and family! It's hard to find a balance sometimes.

    1. It's so hard to find the balance between spending far too much time online and actually living! I am in complete agreement with you, I just wish I could actually achieve this balance which you seem to have done perfectly x

  3. I get how you feel, because lately I spend all the time working or studying, and I feel like I'm getting away from the blog too often... :(
Anyway, I nominated you for the Liebster Blog Award, you can find it here

    1. I hate the feeling! It makes me feel so detached from everything, and I sometimes feel like I am focusing on the wrong thing. I want my life to be filled with enjoyment, not 24 hours of study-sleep-repeat! I also feel like I'm neglecting this lovely blogging space :/
Thank you so much for the nomination! I already a Liebster post, but I'll certainly read yours! x

    1. I agree! I love all the sounds involved with using a typewriter, like the keys hitting the ink ribbon and the little ding to signal the end of the paper! It fills me with such an vintage joy, haha! If only I could blog via typewriter x

  5. Oh gosh, what a mess! My deepest apologies to everyone who left a comment on this post, I appreciate every one of them! When I imported my comments from Blogger to Disqus I made a right old mess of things so I had to delete all my replies! So sorry, but from now on everything will be as it should! <3

  6. This is one of my favourite things that I have ever read. Your style of writing is super beautiful and encouraging: I love how you think Emily, I wish more people thought like this. It's weird because recently I've been feeling super lonely as I've been losing a lot of friends throughout the year, but like you said, I guess it is up to the individual to combat that awful feeling. I've saved your piece in my documents because I loved it so much :)

I deeply hope that you manage to scare away loneliness, for you seen like an incredible human being who deserves to feel complete. Thank you so much for your time and thoughts on my little blog, you have officially made my day! xx
